Newby by Matthew Williamson afternoon tea
To celebrate the launch of Newby by Matthew Williamson, Matthew himself hosted a very special afternoon tea party in London on launch day with a select few of his famous friends. The vibrant interiors of the Coral Room at the Bloomsbury Hotel provided the perfect backdrop for the afternoon tea and trio of caddies, which are inspired by the visual boldness of India’s Rajasthan state and celebrate the spirit of exotic, travel and adventure.
As Matthew now calls Portugal home, the London celebration of the collection was also an extra special reunion of close friends old and new. Fearne Cotton brought her mum as her plus one because she, “simply loves tea.” Sadie Frost chatted with fashion designer Savannah Miller while other guests including Amber Le Bon, Jasmine Hemsley, Doina, Kelly Eastwood and Sarah Macklin enjoyed tasting the three exclusive tea blends accompanied by a quintessentially British selection of sandwiches, cakes and scones. Special guest Rosanna Falconer played the perfect host along with Matthew to ensure a good time was had by all.
The Newby by Matthew Williamson Collection is the conclusion of more than two years work and reveals three brand new, loose-leaf blends guaranteed to delight all the senses. The collection features Jasmine Rose Garden – a green tea with a honeyed aroma and floral notes of jasmine and rose. The Maharaja’s Breakfast – an Assam tea balanced with subtle sweet notes and Exotic Earl Grey, with subtle bergamot oil and spicy safflower top notes.
